Saturday, September 7 | Bird Walk with Gregg Gorton

8:30AM

Where: Barmouth Trailhead

What: Join us for a special bird walk with Greg Gorton on September 7 at 8:30am. The trail is a great place to look for birds, with many different habitats. It's especially nice during migration seasons in spring and fall.

Birders of all levels are welcome, including children accompanied by an adult.  Bring your binoculars but not your pets. Learn more about joining this walk and our other bird walks on the first Saturday of every month.

Trail Walks

We regularly do nature walks that are open to the public. Each walk has a different focus on birds, animals, plants, and upcoming infrastructure projects. Check out the latest walk schedule and view information on past events.

When in Laurel Hill West Cemetery

We are fortunate that the Cynwyd Heritage Trail connects directly to historic Laurel Hill West Cemetery at Barmouth. The cemetery, established in 1869, covers 187-acres filled with history and remarkable stone artwork. Laurel Hill West is the accredited Trailhead arboretum with several Pennsylvania state champion trees.

While visitors are welcomed by the cemetery to enjoy their grounds for walking and biking, it’s important to remember that Laurel Hill West is still an active cemetery and all users must respect those who are grieving. Please avoid biking or walking in the presence of a funeral procession, graveside burial or memorial ceremony. Please also abide by the cemetery’s speed limit of 15 mph at all times.

We are also very fortunate that the cemetery is dog-friendly, but please keep your pet on a leash at all times and to clean up after your pet.

It is a privilege to have this beautiful resource adjacent to our trail. Please be respectful of those who are mourning and to the cemetery staff who maintain this National Register property day in and day out. We are sure you would expect the same deference to be given to you.
